MSRA Executive Committee, following coaches meeting
May
13, 2006
Registered Regatta status for the MSRA Championship: continue as USRowing Registered Regatta for 2007.
Boys weight categories: continue with single weight category for boys of 150# maximum
Try to make events at regattas consistent within the region
"Junior" (grades 9-11) 8+&4+ and "2nd Varsity" 8+: Continue with both categories
Boys and Girls Novice 4+ to have 1000 meter (floating start) heats, if more than 4 heats (28 entries) and/or weather conditions are not favorable (Don preferred time trials, but a majority were against that)
MSRA as a qualifying
regatta for the S.R.A.A., and tentatively one more year as a qualifier
for the USRowing Youth National
We decided that we are not going to go out of our way to continue to be a
qualifier for the USRowing Youth National, however we would request the
opportunity to qualify at the Stotesbury Cup.
Named Trophies for
Event winners? It was decided that the current plaque for 1st place are
fine and we do not need additional trophies
Regatta scheduling:
discussion to be continued during the summer.
Membership on the Executive Committee: Current members all indicated interest in continuing to serve on the Executive Committee
-- Following the regatta there was some discussion about requiring a team to enter the Varsity 8+ events to be eligible for the points trophies.
MSRA Executive Committee decisions: August-November, 2006
The MSRA Executive Committee still have unfinished business from the discussion over the summer
A) Team points: we agreed they needed to be redone, and there were several proposals, but no agreement, except that varsity events should be weighted heaviest.
B) Entry fees: several suggestions by the LOC to increase revenue (~$4,000
more), though they have not offered their expense listing or revenue from
concessions.
i) Park reclamation/”tent” fee: $30-50/school attending
ii) Raise the cap on entry fees from $350 à
$400
iii) Raise the entry fee for eights ($30 à
$35) and fours ($20 à $25)
