Welcome
Thanks for visiting our website! It is our hope that you
find your visit here informative and uplifting as you learn about some of the
exciting opportunities at Culver Bible Church. We welcome you to attend
any of our services or contact us if we can be of service to you in any
way. What is a
Bible Church?
A Bible
church is a denominationally unaffiliated local church. It is unhampered
by the restrictions and decisions of other churches or denominations that might
determine the ministry and message of the church. This is not to say that
all denominational churches are wrong. Rather, a Bible church has chosen
to remain independent of such organizations, so that the Word of God might
determine its ministry and message. A Bible church stresses the authority of the written Word of God. A Bible church strongly adheres to the inspiration and authority of the Scriptures. It draws from the Scriptures the principles that determine beliefs and practices. The apostle Paul wrote to pastor Timothy--"All Scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness; that the man of God may be perfect (that is, complete) thoroughly furnished unto all good works” (II Timothy 3:16,17). A Bible church proclaims these Biblical truths, being confident that God is glorified and people's needs are met when His truths are presented. What is the
purpose of Culver Bible Church?
The
primary purpose of any local church as revealed in the Bible is to glorify God
in all that we are, and in all that we do. This is accomplished in several
ways: through worship (our relationship with a living Lord); through
instruction; (our relationship with the written Word of God);
through fellowship (our relationship with other Christians); and through
evangelism: (our relationship with those who do not know Christ as the
Savior and Redeemer of a lost world). Culver Bible Church is non-charasmatic in the sense that it does not practice speaking in tongues and other activities associated with charismatic-type churches. CBC believes in the exercise of spiritual gifts, but does not hold that all the New Testament spiritual gifts are for today. Culver Bible Church, like all true churches, is "the church of God which
He purchased with His own blood" (Acts 20:28). Praise the Lord that He
did!
