MINUTES OF THE 6-21-2025 MEETING OF THE C.C.A.R.C.

The meeting was called to order at 9 AM by Tom, KB9WSL, President.

SECRETARY’S REPORT:

Tom, KB9WSL, read the minutes of the 5-10-2025 meeting as Jerry, KD9TSH was unable to be at the meeting. A motion was made and seconded to approve the minutes as presented. Motion carried.

TREASURER’S REPORT:

Dave, N9WCQ, presented the treasurer’s report.

Checking account:

Balance as of 5-10-2025 was $752.55.

Deposit of $11 donations received.

Deposit of $350.00 donation in memory of Roger Woodworth, (N9AIR), by Mike Flinn, (WZ9Z). Thank You Mike.

Ending checking account balance of $1,113.55.

Savings account:

Balance as of 5-10-2025 was $757.87.

Deposit of 10-cents interest earned.

Ending savings account balance $757.97.

Grand total balance of checking and savings $1,871.52.

Motion was made and seconded to approve the Treasurer’s report. Motion carried.

BILLS:

None this month. Marion, KA9BYN advised he would have some next month. Dave N9WCQ advised he would have a bill next month for liability insurance for the club.

REPEATERS:

Marion, KA9BYN advised all three repeaters are working great.

NCI HAMFEST:

Marion, KA9BYN, gave a preliminary report. As of now the HamFest has $2,551.75 cents in the bank. The committee will be working on a budget for next year’s HamFest.  After a budget is established, the remaining funds will be divided among the Clubs. Marion did not have a total for how many tickets were sold to determine attendance.

FIELD DAY:

Marion, KA9BYN, advised Field day is next weekend. He stated he will need help on Friday June 27th at 2pm for set-up at the EMA building. He will also need help with the food. John, KB9SIR advised he would help seek donations for food. Marion, KA9BYN, said he has plenty of paper plates, cups, napkins, and plastic knives, spoons and forks. John, KB9SIR asked about a generator. Marion, KA9BYN advised the EMA building has a generator, There will also be batteries available so the club can get bonus points. Marion, KA9BYN will call 811 to have underground utilities located in the field where the Bob-Tail Curtain antenna will be set-up. John, KB9SIR said he would contact the farmer to see if he will have the field cut by Field Day weekend.

OLD BUSINESS:

Marion, KA9BYN, advised he has reserved an aerial lift to work on the loop antenna and the rotator for the beam antenna. He plans to bring it to EMA later today around noon to work on the equipment. He said he would like some volunteers to help.

Tom, KB9WSL, advised he had invited Allen James from WSAL, WLHM, and WHZR to attend today’s meeting, but he did not attend. Tom will send him another email inviting him to another meeting. James had contacted the club regarding setting up something for storm spotting for the radio stations.

Marion, KA9BYN, advised he had done some more inventory of club equipment and some re-arranging of equipment. Field Day equipment was placed in the cabinet that he recently repaired door on. He placed a note indicating where equipment is located. “C” is for the cabinet he repaired. (L) is for the storage unit to the left of the cabinet and (RR) is for the radio room. John, KB9SIR, asked about back up keys for the equipment storage locations. Marion will see about getting spare keys made. He will see about posting a note on the cabinet indicating who has keys.

NEW BUSINESS:

None.

GOOD OF THE CLUB:

Fred, KC9KLL, mentioned a fast scan TV contact he had heard about. There was a brief discussion about fast scan TV.

EVENTS:

Tom, KB9WSL, passed out a flyer for the Elkhart East Hamfest on Saturday August 2 from 9AM until 2PM. The location is 21565 Executive Parkway in Elkhart, IN. Admission is $8. There is testing, forums and food available on site.
