REFLECTION FOR WEEKEND JULY 9-10

Dear Friends,

The parable of the sower and the seed is the answer to the mixed responses and  the lack to embrace and absorb  the word of God  by many people in our society today.

Indeed the word of God is life giving, a source of our salvation, it's healing and effective. But it has not been welcomed by all of us in the manner it should. some of us are like rocky ground, pavement, road, thorns e.t.c.

Thanks be to God, some people are like rich soil and have not only received the word but have nurtured it and continue to spread it in their words, actions and life.

Each one has an opportunity to evaluate oneself and remember we can all be the rich soil if we begin to live by the gospel values today.

Fr. Tad

From the Pastor (Msgr. Thadeus Balinda)

1-     We Catholics believe that Mass (Eucharist) is the greatest and most efficacious prayer. It's recommended that the faithful use all chances to attend mass. Even weekday masses. Our weekday mass schedule is posted on the first page of our bulletin. Up to now 6 people are regular to the weekday masses of whom 5 come from far away from our Church. Where are the rest? If you would consider attending at least 2 or more masses during the week in addition of course to Sunday mass you will see the BIG change this will bring to your life and your family.

2-    It is a practice of the Church and highly recommended that the faithful request for Mass intentions for themselves, their family and friends living and more so for the departed ones (read. 2 Maccabees 12:38-46) having in mind the power of the mass the One Sacrifice of Jesus Christ at Calvary. I have observed that many of you do not ask for mass intentions.  For example the masses we celebrate during the weekdays are requested by one individual.  Find out from other parishes, the faithful know the importance of having mass(s) celebrated for themselves and their dear ones both living and dead. Why not you?  We cannot buy mass with money because it’s such a great prayer.  However, you are asked to give at least $10 as a sign of yourself giving and appreciation of this prayer which will be offered for you or your beloved one(s) either LIVING OR DEAD.  I really think that you will be enlightened to see the importance of Mass intentions and begin applying for them.

Your Pastor, Fr. Tad
