Log Cabin Setting on Side Bank of US 31, South of US 30

Log Cabin on Bank 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM March 21, 2000
We were called by the Marshall County Sheriff's Dept. When we arrived we found a 12' by 35' log cabin setting on the side bank of US 31, just south of US 30. We started by cutting the trailer frame in half and loaded it onto a rollback and took it to our storage lot.

1:00 PM - 5:30 PM
About 1:00 PM we were back and started to jack up the building with air bags. Because the cabin was setting on a bank we had to hold it with two wreckers. As we started up it wanted to slide down the bank. We lifted one end off the building and cribbed on the two corners. Then we backed the trailer as far as possible.

Then we air bagged the other end and backed the trailer under the rest of the way. We then tied the house to the trailer and wrenched the truck and trailer back onto the roadway and took it to our storage lot.

The next day we used three wreckers with nylon straps to lift the house off the trailer and set it on blocks. The unit is now in our storage lot waiting on the insurance adjuster.

Cassens Car Carrier on US 30, West of Plymouth, Indiana

Rolled over car carrier

Cassens car carrier loaded with 11 cars rolled over on US 30 west of Plymouth.   We were able to hitch on the frame of the trailer to pull it back up on its wheels.   We used our Volvo and our Ford big wreckers to pull it.

Both operators had to be careful and keep both ends pulling at the same speed otherwise the trailer might tend to bend or even break.  The driver said he could not believe how smooth that came over.

Truck uprighted with little damage
The truck was up-righted with all cars still attached.  Very little damage was done to the cars.

Rolling the truck back over was the easy part. These type of trucks run so low to the ground we had to lift with one truck and pull it with the big Volvo wrecker.   After all was done, the driver drove the cars off of his truck and loaded them onto another truck.  He then delivered them to the dealership.  Some were probably rejected, but most had just a few scratches and could be buffed out.

A Rolled Over Semi-tractor and Trailer in South Bend, Indiana

Removing snow
The first thing we had to do was remove the snow to make room to work.

Uprighting with two wreckers
Then we set up bags on the under side of the trailer and started to lift.
As it came up we assisted with two wreckers on the other side.

Back on the road
After we got the unit back onto the road, the company was able to start the truck and drive away.
